Vision statement
Welcome to our dynamic Design & Technology (D&T) department, the hub where curiosity is engineered into real-world products. We specialise in: Product Design, Textiles Technology, Food Preparation, and Programming.
Our priority is providing safe, purposeful lessons that help every student feel a sense of achievement through inspiring practical projects.
We encourage students to question how and why products are made, embedding the skills and knowledge needed to realise them. At KS3, students benefit from tuition by industry specialists and access to our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. We are committed to developing confident, critical thinkers ready to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
A typical DT Lesson
In KS3 all students study Textiles technology, Product design, Food preparation and programming on a rotating calendar throughout the year. Lessons are calm, purposeful and delivered by specialist teachers. Subject knowledge forms the foundation of our curriculum and essential skills are deliberately practised and embedded into focused practical projects. Students have the opportunity to select one pathway to GCSE level from year 10.
