Heads of Year/AHOYs
At The Swan School, we are committed to ensuring every student thrives both academically and personally. Our dedicated pastoral team is the backbone of this mission, providing a consistent support network that grows with your child from their first day in Year 7 through to Sixth Form.
Our Pastoral Leadership Team
Our pastoral structure is built on a partnership between teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure constant availability and expertise.

Heads of Year (HOYs): Five teaching members of staff who ensure the school’s values and standards are maintained. They lead their year group’s academic and personal development.

Assistant Heads of Year (AHOYs): Five non-teaching members of staff who provide immediate, daily support. Because they do not have a teaching timetable, they are uniquely positioned to implement interventions and respond to student needs as they arise.

Sixth Form Leadership: A specialised team consisting of a Head of Sixth Form, Deputy Head, and Pastoral Lead to guide students through the transition to adulthood.
How We Support Your Child
The pastoral team acts as a bridge between the school, the family, and external support agencies. Our care is focused as follows:
