Elevate Your Potential: Duke of Edinburgh at The Swan School
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is more than just a certificate; it’s a life-changing adventure. At The Swan School, we are proud to offer a robust DofE program that empowers students to push their boundaries, gain new skills, and build the resilience needed for the world beyond the classroom.
We offer all three levels of the award to students across our year groups:
-
Bronze Award
-
Silver Award
-
Gold Award
The Swan School Advantage: Keeping Adventure Accessible
The most unique aspect of DofE at The Swan School is our commitment to in-house excellence. Unlike many other schools, we do not outsource our expeditions to expensive third-party providers.
Why this matters for you:
-
Significantly Lower Costs: By managing our own camping and expedition elements, we keep fees to an absolute minimum.
-
Inclusivity: Lower costs mean more of our students can afford to take part, ensuring that financial barriers don't stand in the way of ambition.
-
Familiar Support: Our expeditions are led by the same staff members students know and trust, providing a supportive and encouraging environment throughout the journey.
Why Take Part in DofE?
The DofE award is internationally recognised by universities and employers as a mark of character. Participants complete four sections (five for Gold):
| Section | What it involves |
| Volunteering | Giving back to the community and making a difference. |
| Physical | Improving health and fitness through sports or dance. |
| Skills | Developing a new talent, from coding to cooking. |
| Expedition | Planning, training for, and completing an adventurous journey. |
| Residential (Gold only) | Five days away from home working on a shared activity. |
