Geography
Vision Statement
Our curriculum is designed to help students appreciate the vital interconnections between people, places, and the environment, and the ways these interactions shape real-world challenges and opportunities. Through this study, students develop a strong sense of place, a keen awareness of diverse global perspectives, and a lasting curiosity about both their local surroundings and the wider world. As passionate advocates for the subject, we aim to foster in students an appreciation of the profound implications and vast opportunities presented by geography as a discrete discipline.
Our Students on Geography
The thing that helped me feel confident in geography lessons is:
- the teacher being kind and just giving the students a comfortable environment
- the easy to read booklets that lay out information in a simple and comprehensible way
- the trip to the coast and the other field trips
- the GCSE Revision Hub
The best thing about studying geography is:
- it is interesting studying things that are happening in our world and seeing how it affects people
- learning about how the natural and human world work with each other
- every lesson is exciting and engaging
The thing I didn't expect about studying geography is:
- that I get to learn about problems occurring in the world right now in different countries in a physical and human context
- how many different places and countries we study in depth
- the range of topics we cover
- it is so interesting
A typical Geography lesson
The KS3 curriculum is structured thematically: students learn and embed physical and human geography topics within a location context. Most KS3 units end with a DME, where students apply their knowledge in the context of different places, giving students opportunity to think holistically and critically about a range of issues
