Level 3 Core Math
Core Maths (Maths in Context) is ideal for students taking subjects that heavily rely on a strong understanding of the application of maths, such as biology, chemistry, business, economics, geography, and psychology.
The content of this qualification is drawn from a range of GCSE content areas predominantly: statistics, probability, algebra and ratio, proportion and rates of change, together with 20% of content drawn from beyond and above GCSE content.
Students build on and develop their understanding of GCSE content, then applying it to real life examples. Social networking, sport, finance, health, economy, travel are some of the areas that students apply their maths to.
Core Maths is offered alongside EPQ.

2 exams sat at the end of year 13:
- Comprehension (1hr 40 minutes, 60 marks, 40% weighting)
- Applications (1hr 40 minutes, 80 marks, 60% weighting)
Modules:
- applications of statistics
- probability
- linear programming
- sequences and growth
All modules are assessed over the two papers.
